HOW DID YOUR NAME ORIGINATE? My friend actually came up with the name, thinking that I needed to stage name. The white buffalo had a lil more gravitas than Jake Smith. It has a little mystery and provokes more thought and imagery. - WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST GIG AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE? My first gig was at a house party by an apartment complex pool in HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA. There were probably 100 underage kids in attendance. Natural Lights and beer bongs baby!! - WHEN WAS YOUR LAST DAY OFF AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT? Every day is a day off of late. Yesterday I put up dartboard and played some darts with my kid. He’s trying ti nudge the old man off the podium. NEVER!!!! Later I zoomed/FaceTimed with some old friends for happy hour. Got a lil sauced actually. - WHAT IS SOMETHING - APART FROM YOUR PHONE OR WALLET - THAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR VICINITY AT ALL TIMES? It used to be cigarettes but thankfully that’s a thing of the past. I oddly still carry a lighter with me most everywhere. Maybe it’s just habit. - WHICH SONG BY ANOTHER ARTIST DO YOU WISH YOU'D WRITTEN? I’m not sure if I’d wish I’d written them but there are many I appreciate and aspire to emulate Waiting Around to Die by Townes Van Zandt is a dark, real journey. You can really feel the pain in that song. The Highwayman by Jimmy Webb is a masterpiece and hits that honest, bad ass emotional chord better than most anything ever. - WHAT'S BEEN THE MOST SURREAL FAN MOMENT? Fans getting my lyrics, signature, and even my face permanently tattooed on their bodies is pretty surreal.
