HOW DID YOUR NAME ORIGINATE? Kieran Gilchrist (Guitars, backing vocals) - El Misti is the name of the hostel in Rio where me and Paddy met during carnival in 2010, when we were both doing round the world trips. The hostel is named after an active volcano in Peru. - WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST GIG AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE? Paddy Bleakley (lead vocals, guitar, songwriter) – We were probably at some crazy house party. - WHEN WAS YOUR LAST DAY OFF AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT? Kieran – Not that long ago and I probably did as I always do, which is squander it. Paddy - I’m off to Uruguay for a week soon. My friends are starting a Yoga retreat down in the South by the sea. I’ll be spending some quality time with some beautiful people. Very excited about that. Getting away from this damn, bone-chilling weather for a bit will be pretty good. Days off in general, though, are mostly spent wandering round looking for inspiration. - WHAT IS SOMETHING - APART FROM YOUR PHONE OR WALLET - THAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR VICINITY AT ALL TIMES? Kieran – A guitar, Paddy’s capo and plectrums, and a cuppa. Paddy - Yeah, he’s got a thing for other people’s capos. Personally, I can’t live without a cigarette. - WHICH SONG BY ANOTHER ARTIST DO YOU WISH YOU'D WRITTEN? Kieran – Maybe, ‘Paranoid Android’ by Radiohead. Paddy – That’s a tough one but right now, off the top of my head, ‘Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright’ by Bob Dylan, or, more recently, ‘Codeine Dream’ by Colter Wall. - WHAT'S BEEN THE MOST SURREAL FAN MOMENT? Kieran – Not having any. Paddy - What he said.
