Clutch - Interview from Download 2019


The single is the first in a series of new studio recordings that will comprise the newly launched Weathermaker Vault Series and the first new official music Clutch is making available since the release of their critically acclaimed album, Book Of Bad Decisions.

Future tracks will follow as part of the new series throughout the second half of 2019. These songs are bound to become another classic milestone in the band's stellar career.‘Evil’ was made famous by Cactus, however was originally written and recorded by the legendary blues artist Willie Dixon


Evil was mixed by 6x Grammy Award winner and Clutch collaborator,  Vance Powell (Wolfmother, The Raconteurs, Arctic Monkeys).

"We’ve had a good amount of downtime since our last tour.  And since the devil finds work for idle hands, we kept ourselves busy by recording some tunes.  “Evil” is the first of them, a song we’ve loved for many, many years." Says enigmatic vocalist Neil Fallon


Clutch’s most recent full length LP came in the shape of 2018’s Book of Bad Decisions, which saw widespread critical acclaim from press and radio alike, and subsequently landed at #13 in the UK charts, their highest ever UK chart position to date

Huge radio support from lead singles came from the likes of BBC Radio 1 Rock Show’s Daniel P Carter, BBC Radio 2 Rock Show (inc. Rock God feature with singer Neil Fallon), Planet Rock Radio (2x A-lists and Phil Alexander’s MOJO Rocks Show), Kerrang Radio (2x A-lists and Sophie K’s breakfast show Single of the Week), Primordial Radio, Total Rock Radio, as well as dozens of regional rock ILRs


UK press were in full praise of the album: Classic Rock lauded Book of Bad Decisions as their #1 album of the year, stating ‘There are few irrefutable facts in this world, but here’s one: Clutch don’t make bad albums. 9/10. Whilst Rhythm magazine declares the LP in a similar vein: ‘Death. Taxes. Clutch to turn in an utterly face-melting new album. Just three things that you can take as guarantees in this life…’ – 4/5. Further admiration came from the likes of Kerrang – KKKK, Total Guitar – 4/5, Powerplay – 10/10 andGuitarist – 10/10


Clutch will embark on a brief European festival run this June, including a mainstage performance at the UK’s Download Festival on Friday 14th June (in addition to Copenhell, Graspop and Hellfest) with headline dates dotted in between in Cardiff and two in Greece, before returning to Europe this winter:
