Album of the Week: Skillet - Victorious

It's been 13 years since its inception, and Skillet isn't slowing down any time soon. The wildly popular Christian rock band delivered its 10th studio album, Victorious, just after midnight on Friday (Aug. 2), and as the title suggests, it's a tribute to overcoming obstacles.

Produced by frontman John Cooper and his wife, guitarist Korey Cooper, the 12-track album follows the dynamic, pounding rhythms their fans adore. The lead single, "Legendary," sets the tone for the rest of the track list with fiery lyrics like, "Fly high or will I fall?/Legends made when faith is strong/Say my name, No time to plead/Say my name, I'm conquering."

Victorious is a follow-up to 2016's gold-certified Unleashed. "When I was looking at what we did well on Unleashed, I thought it was a real energizing and fun record to listen to," John previously told Billboard on the making of the new album. "That's what a great Skillet record is -- songs that make people want to put their fists up in the air at a concert or get them through a run or drive or whatever they are doing. So we set out to make a record that had a lot of emotion to it."
